Nujabes - Luv (Sic) Pt. 2
By the time the early 2000’s came around, countries like Germany, UK, France and Japan had time to catch up and create their own version of hip-hop. Each country has had their own sound and style but none was as influential and expressive then the late great Nujabes from Japan.
Japan had taken the soul side of hip hop using samples from disco, motown, blues and jazz. Nujabes was the James Yancey of Japanese producers and unfortunately, he too passed away in 2010. He left behind many great albums full of instrumentals, ideas, masterpieces and one of my all time favourite songs. Luv (Sic) pt. 2 has a boom bap feel with a touch of soul provided by the warm brass sample that carries the theme of love from the beginning to the end of the song. The lyrics, provided by Shing02 are simple yet touches on complex ideas like relationships, decision making and God. What makes Nujabes so special is that you can hear him in every one of his beats. He puts his soul and his own twist on hip-hop and will forever live on as one of the best to ever do it. R.I.B. (rest in beats) Nujabes.

Japanese internet cafes are good. So good that people are living there – literally.
Japanese internet cafes (also known as manga cafes) offer comfortable lay-flat chairs. They’re semi-private and have food, showers, free drinks and ice cream, a massive library of books, manga, video games, magazines and movies. They even have internet!
It’s cheap to stay over night in an internet cafe. Often it’s around 1000~2000 yen ($10-20 USD).
Some young Japanese live in the cafes for weeks, months or even years. Moving from cafe to cafe each night.
Most internet cafe kids are engaged in casual employment of some kind. Many find the cafes a convenient alternative to an expensive Tokyo or Osaka apartment. They may also lack the down payment that’s required for an apartment (key money, deposit and agent fees often total 6 months rent).
Most internet kids aren’t truly homeless. Many could easily live with parents or relatives but find the cafes convenient.
Manga cafes — unlimited free sugar, video games, movies, manga. Many kids may feel it’s better than home.
Excuse me while i move here
In Japan, radiation creates monsters (Godzilla) and in America radiation creates superheroes
Shockingly, it’s almost like Japan and America have very different narratives surrounding nuclear fallout. Now, if we all think very very hard, maybe someone could think of why this might be.
